I’ve been a listener since 1965, formerly Vice-President of CWA 2002 to 2015, Alameda Labor Council member, Board Member of “The House” at San Quentin (providing support for family members of inmates), Steering Committee of Marin People for Peace, Human Rights work in Chile in 1981, V.P of CWA 9404, Executive Board Member of Marin County Labor Council.
KPFA is a vital resource for left and progressive communities, and occupies a unique space for reporting information due to its independence from corporate sponsors. I support the well-trained staff and volunteers who are critical to the station’s success. We have a permanent general manager and program director for the first time in many years. This provides greater opportunities for us in working to expand KPFA’s audience.
I will work with other LSB Members to develop strategies for expanding sources of funding for KPFA. It is important to hear all perspectives; that will enable us to reach our goal of keeping KPFA vibrant moving forward.
